Like any other fabric, it is important to take care and care is necessary to maintain the velvet furniture looking as good as it can So we've created this guide with helpful suggestions and tips to take care of it.

For the first time, velvet was made from silk. It was difficult to make and required a lengthy manufacturing process. This resulted in a luxurious but expensive fabric to make and only the wealthy could have the money to purchase it. It's still rare and costly and requires constant maintenance. But, there are several other kinds made from synthetic or cotton fabrics that make it less costly and useful for furniture.

Types Of Velvet

There are around thirteen varieties that we've chosen three of them to be used in the bar stools. Crushed velvet is a unique look and pattern. This gives it a striking appearance and conceals any marks or dirt more effectively than other kinds. Microfibre is a fine-grained fiber that creates an extremely soft texture as evidenced in its Fontaine Chair. In addition, the delicate texture of our popular Moreton dining chair and Brunswick Stool is due to velvet seat upholstery. Velour is more noticeable in its pile and may require some extra care as we'll explain below.

Maintaining the Velvet Pile

The thick pile is among the most distinctive characteristic of velvet. This is particularly evident in lighter shades that do not feature a pattern or a crushed texture. The distinctive pile forms since its fibers are weaved into tiny loops in one direction. As a result, it will have a distinct feel and appearance when the pile is pulled in the other direction.

In general, velvet items are made by rolling the pile. If you rub your hands down using the pile it will feel silky to the touch and appear lighter. If you go in the other direction and press against the pile it will feel rougher and appear darker. The difference in our velour upholstery is shown in the picture below.

A direction for the pile could affect the direction of the pile, resulting in a dramatic change in the look and appearance of velvet furniture. Although it is a characteristic of the fabric it adds character however, any pieces that are pushed against the pile due to daily use will result in an unnatural appearance. They may appear like scratches on the fabric.

To get the neatest appearance, it is best to sweep the pile across the entire area the entire piece. To make a quick and simple fix or for small repairs, this could be done with a hand like below on the bar's seat stool.

For maintenance that lasts for a long time for long-term maintenance, a clothing brush performs exceptionally efficiently. Double-sided clothing brushes are perfect with one side having soft bristles to help with general maintenance and the other is made of an abrasive, more aggressive material. They can remove wrinkles and marks which may develop if proper you don't take care when wearing the item or when garments, such as sequins, are in contact with the seat.

General Care Tips

Cleaning velvet furniture frequently can not only ensure an attractive and clean appearance but also increases the pile, and minimizes the impact of being flattened due to continuous use. The brush can get rid of dust or dirt that has accumulated in between the fibers, and to get a better clean, it is possible to use the vacuum cleaner that has an attachment for upholstery.

Be careful not to make your velvet wet. Any spillages must be dealt with quickly using a dry, clean cloth to gently wipe the liquid. Make sure to not put too much pressure while you are blotting because this can cause flattening of the pile. Allow to dry, then use a brush to prevent the matting of the fibers.
